This summer has been full of activity with shows at the LUX in LaConner, a juried show at the Scott-Milo Gallery in Anacortes followed by works hanging in Hadrian's gallery in Edison. Fall is approaching quickly and we will have art from our group in the Arts Alive event in LaConner, November 8th - 11th.
Our weekly painting excursions are always surprising when we search for the perfect scene to paint then return to the group for critique and discussion. Everyone has the amazing ability to see something that might be rather mundane and turn it into something beautiful. See some of these works below.
Each year Salish Sea Plein Air Painters have a tent at the Anacortes Arts Alive event. This year was no exception. The turn out for this fair is amazing, thousands of people come up to see the vendors and wares on display. The food selection is wide including everything from hamburgers and brauts, Indian, Asian and Mexican foods and I am sure there are others that I have left out. There are ice cream cones and sweets of all kinds just to keep you going, the street is shut down for 2 days and everyone has a wonderful time. By the end, everyone is also exhausted! We love to talk to people who come over to see what we have on display and frequently sell paintings we have brought. It's a fun time for all.
This Thursday, Aug. 24, Plein Air Washington will be hosting a workshop and painting destination at Fort Casey in Coupville, WA. This is a terrific place to paint and those interested in joining a group of plein air painters should look up Plein Air Washington Association or Salish Sea Plein Air Painters! Have fun.
We have taken a step toward being a little better with our communications and publicity. I encourage members to post here with information about painting dates and locations, opportunities for workshops and classes you would like to share. Below is a map that tells where we recently painted. This may be useful for future locations. Lets get blogging! Kathleen.
